GOFAMINT Worldwide
The Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), the Church with the Word for the World, founded on the Solid Rock by God, through a small group of committed men and women led by the late Pastor (Dr) R. A. George at Iwaya, Yaba Lagos, has transformed into a divine legacy that has today assumed a global dimension.
It all began with Brother Reuben Akinwalere George (later Pastor (Dr) R. A. George), a member of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and a dynamic leader of the Christ Army Band of the CAC then at 83, Lagos Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, who had always felt a deep conviction of the call of God on his life. Thus in 1956, they started first as a small fellowship and Bible Study Group led by Brother R.A.George at his residence at No 9, Omotola Street, IwayaYaba, Lagos. The fellowship group then included the late Sister Dupe George, Brothers David Akinremi, Meshack Akinola, Iwaku J. Bagere, Daniel Aluko, Olusegun George, Elijah Oludele Abina, and Elkanah Obideyi. The other members of the group were Brothers Solomon Kudoro, Richard Godonu Akapo, one Mrs. Dorcas Adeyemi, Sisters Mary Kudoro, Felicia Akinremi (later Matron Felicia Abina), Janet Oke, Dupe Oju (later Dupe Akapo), among others.
The Church began to grow, and later moved to her first building at 22, Balogun Street also in Iwaya and from there, gradually spread to Bariga, Mushin, Salvation Army Road in Ibadan, and the rest of the world. Pastor George was ordained as Pastor in 1959 and he transited into glory in 1987 after which his deputy all along at the time, Pastor (Dr) E.O. Abina took over the mantle of leadership in the same 1987. It is worthy of note that The Gospel Faith Mission International became an incorporated body in Nigeria in October 1967.
The Church that started with barely 20 people has grown so large today with over 2000 branches under 14 Administrative Regions headed by Regional Pastors. The Regions are further sub-divided into 113 Districts and Areas which are equally headed by District and Area pastors respectively with over 1600 Assemblies. Branches have also been established in many African countries such as Benin Republic, Togo, Gabon, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Liberia, South Africa, and Botswana among others. In Britain, the Church, which was established in 1983, has extended to the Irish Republic with branches in Dublin.
GOFAMINT’s first branch in the United States of America was established in 1985. This has grown into well over seventeen branches today. Equally, the Church now has branches in Calgary, Canada and Turnhout in Belgium. In 2007, GOFAMINT berth in Philippines, Mexico, Australia through an initiative of the General Overseer, Pastor (Dr) E.O. Abina to take the gospel, through GOFAMINT to all the Continents of the world. The Church also has presence in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Israel. The Church is being directed by the Holy Spirit through the Executive Council, which is headed by the current General Overseer, Pastor (Dr) Elijah Oludele Abina
The GOFAMINT International Office is situated at Gospel City, Kilometer 40, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Aseese, Ogun State. While the National Office remains at International Gospel Centre, Ojoo, Oyo Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Our Statement of Purpose
To Preach the Word of God and bring people into the membership of God’s family; To teach the Word of God, to enhance freedom, promote Christian maturity and bind the people to God for service, and to live the Word of God, to demonstrate the new life in Christ to the world, and ensure security of the believer.
Our Membership Covenant
Having accepted Jesus Christ into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour, upon which I have been baptized by immersion and in agreement with GOFAMINT in her vision, statement of purpose and structure, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to join the GOFAMINT church family. By doing so, I commit myself to God and to other members of this body to do the following:
1. COVENANT OF SERVICE I will serve the ministry of my church:
…by attending all meetings that concern me.
… by discovering my gifts and talents and using them to promote the church.
… by being equipped to serve my pastors and fellow brethren.
… by developing a servant’s heart to serve as our Master Jesus did.
As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as (befits) good trustees of God’s many-sided grace-faithful steward of the extremely diverse (powers and gifts granted to Christians by unmerited favour; (I Pet. 4:10). It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. (Eph. 4:11-22). Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. But made himself nothing taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness (Phil. 2:3-4,7).
2. COVENANT OF DEFENCE I will defend the unity of my church:
… by acting in love towards other members.
… by avoiding all forms of backbiting and tale-bearing.
… by following the foot-steps of our leaders
… by paying obedience to all instruction of the leaders So let us then definitely aim for and eagerly pursue what mates for harmony and for mutual up building (edification and development) of one another.
(Rm. 14:19). Love must be sincere, hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honour one another above yourselves. (Rm. 12:9-10). Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word, nor unwholesome or worthless talk (ever) come out of your mouth; but only such (speech) as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others,
as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give (God’s favour) to those who hear it. (Eph. 4:29). Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be no advantage to you. (Heb. 13:17).
3. COVENANT OF COMMITMENT I will be a partaker of and share in the burden and responsibility of my church:
…by paying my tithes regularly.
…by praying for the growth of the church.
…by inviting the unsaved to attend our fellowship.
…by paying my vows/pledges when due.
…by giving good offerings during church service.
To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you. We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. (I Thess. 1:1-2). Then the master told his servant “Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.” (Lk. 14:23). Accept one another, then just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God (Rm. 15:7).
4. COVENANT OF FAITHFULNESS I will support the testimony of my church:
…by attending faithfully our church meetings.
…by living a godly life that can challenge the sinners.
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the day approaching. (Heb. 10:25). Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence. I will know that you stand firm in one Spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel. (Phil. 1:27).
5. COVENANT OF RESPONSIBILITY I will behave responsibly:
…by witnessing the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to others.
…by giving to the Lord’s work, the ministers of God and the needy.
Each one of you, on the first day of each week, should set aside a specific sum of money in proportion to what you have earned and use it for the offering. (I Cor. 16:2LB). A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD: it is holy to the LORD (Lev. 27:30).
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Gal. 6:9-10). He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward him of what He has done. (Prov. 19:17).
Our AIM
The Gospel Faith Mission International is an organisation, which aims at preaching and teaching the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We do not preach denomination but we do preach indivisible church of Christ in the world. We believe:
1. in the Divine inspiration of the Holy Bible
(II Tim. 3:16-17).I Tim.3:16. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17. that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2. in the Trinity of the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Ghost
(Matt. 28:19).Matt.28:19. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
3. in the Total Depravity of the Human Race
(Rom. 5:12).Rom.5:12. Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned
4. in the plan of Redemption through the Blood of Christ
(Jn. 3:16).Jn.3:16. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
5.in Repentance and Restitution
(Acts 3:19; Ezek. 18:21; Lk. 19:8-9).Acts 3:19. Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
Eze.18:21. "But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
Lk 19:8. Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold."
9. And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;
6. in Justification and the New Birth
(Jn. 3:3).Jn.3:3. Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
7. in Entire Sanctification
(Heb. 10:10).Heb.10:10. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
8. in Water Baptism as Testimony to Salvation
(Matt. 28:19).Matt28:19. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
9. in the Lord’s Supper
(I Cor. 11:28).I Cor.11:28. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
10. in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
(Eph. 5:18).Eph.5:18. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
11. in the Gifts and Fruit of Spirit
(I Cor. 12:1-2; Gal. 5:22).I Cor.12:1. Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant:
2. You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.
Gal.5:22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
12. in the New Testament Standard of Gifts, Offering and Tithes
(Lk. 21:1).Lk.21:1. And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury,
13. in no Divorce and Remarriage
(Matt. 19:9; Rm. 7:2-3).Matt.19:9. And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.
Rom 7:2. For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband.
3. So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man.
14. in Divine Healing and present day Miracles
(James 5:14-16).James 5:14. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
16. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
15. in the Civil Government
(Rom. 13:1-5).Rom.13:1. Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
2. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
3. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.
4. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.
5. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake.
16. in the Resurrection of the Body
(Rev. 20:5).Rev.20:5. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
17. in the Second Coming of Christ
(I Thess. 4:16-17).I Thess.4:16. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
18. in the Tribulation
(Matt. 24:21-28).Matt.24:21. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.
23. Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it.
24. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
25. See, I have told you beforehand.
26. Therefore if they say to you, 'Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or 'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.
27. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
28. For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
19. in the Eternal Heaven and Eternal Hell
(Matt. 22:31-46).Matt.22:31. But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying,
32. 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."
33. And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.
34. But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.
35. Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,
36. "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"
37. Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
38. This is the first and great commandment.
39. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
40. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
41. While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42. saying, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David."
43. He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord,' saying:
44. 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool" '?
45. "If David then calls Him 'Lord,' how is He his Son?"
46. And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.
20. in the Judgment Seat of Christ for Saints’ reward
(Matt. 16:27; 25:31;31-46).Matt.16:27. For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
Matt.25:31. "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
32. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
34. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35. for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36. I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'
37. Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
38. When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
39. Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'
40. And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'
41. Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
42. for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
43. I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.'
44. Then they also will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?'
45. Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'
46. And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
21. in the Final Judgment
(II Cor. 5:10).II Cor.5:10. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
22. in the endless punishment of Unbeliever
(Rev. 20:10-15).Rev.20:10. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
11. Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.
12. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
13. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
14. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
23. in the New Heaven and the New Earth
(Rev. 21:1-3).Rev.21:1. Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
2. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
24. in the Endless Age when God the Father shall be all in all
(I Cor. 15:28).I Cor.15:28. Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.
